Wedding photography pricing can seem confusing to many couples planning their wedding. The same style and quality wedding photos can seem to vary by several thousand dollars. It begs the question from couples – what are we paying for?
The first consideration that will impact upon your wedding photography pricing is the hoursof photographer coverage needed.
Some wedding photography coverages start very early in the day taking preparation shots with the bride and groom, their families and wedding party members. The photographer then moves to the ceremony and reception.
It is possible to structure the reception around getting the desired wedding photos early, but without making for an odd reception, such as the bridal waltz, cutting of the cake and speeches. Getting these photos earlier rather than later can reduce the hours you require the photographer to be in attendance.
Most wedding photography packages are based on a set number of hours with a fee charged for hours over that timeframe. This is something to check when interviewing your potential wedding photographers and to ensure is written into any contracts.
Before you begin making appointments with wedding photographers it is good to sit down and plan out how many hours you might need the photographer to be in attendance. That will mean the photographer can give you a better guide as to the final cost but can also review your plan to determine how realistic it is – something an experienced wedding photographer is more than able to give sound advice on.
