There would be no wedding without wedding rings. Exchanging rings is an important part of wedding tradition.
For many it begins well before the wedding. The ring tradition begins with the engagement ring – a symbol of love.
Many choose diamonds – symbols of enduring and lasting love – as their engagement ring stone of choice. It is believed the tradition of diamonds began as early as 1477. However it wasn’t until later centuries, the discovery of diamond mines that the increasing accessibility to diamonds made them available to more than the most rich nobility.
Wedding rings are exchanged during the wedding ceremony. Once more commonly only worn by the bride the tradition is now to exchange rings. By wearing wedding rings on the fourth finger a couple symbolise their eternal love for one another.
